Biodiesel has been highly tested and its been proven that its actually better for your car's engine than regular diesel!! This is because biodiesel contains clean burning and lubricating properties, which allows your car to run a lot smoother, and last longer!! It well known that regular diesel fumes are more harmful to both the environment and your own personal health!! However, it has been proven that biodiesel is clean burning, and organically made, so you'll no longer have to worry about health risks, or damaging the ozone layer... Did you know that homemade biodiesel is just as safe for your car as commercial biodiesel, and it much more economical; You can make your own biodiesel fuel for as little as 50 cents a litre When mixing up your first test batch, you must make sure that you're using the correct amount of lye. You should use 4 grams of lye to every litre of unused vegetable oil; or 6 grams of lye for used oil. You can mix the ingredients using a regular home blender Before you start you need to make sure you're wearing appropriate safety gear, this includes goggles and thick gloves. This mixture can get very hot, so make your using a big solid mixing bowl!! The first step is to add your lye and methanol bit at a time, then mix until the lye has dissolved. This will create a substance known as methoxide!! Next you need to preheat the vegetable oil and add it to the methoxide, then mix. Pour the mixture into the blender for 30 mins, and run the blender on slow. Allow this mixture to sit for 24 hours!! Once complete you should see thin liquid on the top and thick liquid on the bottom.
