Rushing Rivers Institute is an Environmental Non-Profit organization incorporated to preserve the rivers of the world for human and nature alike. R.R.I. is different from other institutes because of its ability to combine its knowledge in both ecological and physical sciences into fluid application.

R.R.I. is different from other institutes because of its ability to combine its knowledge in both ecological and physical sciences into fluid application. Rushing Rivers asserts that protecting our world's water is an issue that everyone should be behind. Given the situation of rivers is a result of human actions, it falls on us to correct what has been done. Practices such as overfishing, dams and the overuse are of human error and require human solutions. R.R.I. offers a variety of services to the surrounding community. Our team of river scientists are experts in Instream flow studies, fish and invertebrate habitat assessment, watershed and local scale river restoration planning, ecological feasibility studies of dam removal, nature-like fishway design and analyzing the impact of climate change on rivers and streams Rushing Rivers team members have also created the MesoHABSIM model. This evolution of the PHABSIM model makes for quick assessment of fish communities in long stretches of rivers. With this technology, models are constructed for future planning and projects. Rushing Rivers also provides both introductor and intermediate training courses on the use and applications of MesoHABSIM. Faculty and students alike will both gain from these sessions. It is crucial to have public awareness, not only the world's water, but of Rushing Rivers' plans and goals. R.R.I. very heavily promotes education and community involvement that starts at the town level and eventually makes its way to a global scale. This philosophy leads Rushing Rivers to reach out to the community and inspire recreational events focused on teaching our fellow citizens. Recently in May of 2008, a Fort River Canoe Trip was sponsored where appreciation was inspired for the area's waterways and the participants learned of its threats at the same time. The most important of issues to convey to our communities is the increasingly problematic trend of global warming. As a result, Rivers Climate Action has been established to combat its causes and affects on rivers world-wide. Through our knowledge of rivers and river science, we hope to do our part in slowing (and possibly stopping) this problem.
