Peak Oil is an interesting idea, and I have been looking at this for some time. There are two real theories wrapped in one. The first is the idea that cheap oil is running out from places like Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, etc. This is not saying that oil is running out.

There's also the idea that oil has reached or is about to reach its peak production. With the tar sands in Alberta and Venezuala that's not as likely as some seem to think.
