Sending Reiki Without Permission - 2007/09/18 09:47 This seems to be a much-debated subject within the Reiki community.

Now I don't think there is a simple black and white answer--so let me offer a few scenarios, and let me know what you think of each:

1. In the case of babies, toddlers, or those who can't speak for themselves--do you feel permission is required? Do you feel that you should offer the treatment, and stop if there are obvious signs that the person is not being receptive or does not want it? Is a parent's or gaurdian's permission sufficient?

2. If an unexpected event happens, such as an accident, stroke, heart attack etc. and the person is unable to respond, do you feel it's ok to perform Reiki?

Another thing I've heard of is people asking the person's "higher voice" or something similar for an answer. I've also heard of people asking the Reiki to be directed towards, say, the earth, or an inanimate object, if the person does not need or wish to receive Reiki.

Re:Sending Reiki Without Permission - 2007/09/18 14:54 I have been a Reiki practitioner and teacher since 1989/1990, this was when their was only Usui Reiki, all the others have developed over the years...

I have watched the Reiki Community grow over the years with interest....some times positive and unfortunately some times negative.

I often wonder why we have to make it more complicated than it really is, for eg. more modalities, more symbols, more hand positions, be sure to protect your self, you have to ask the client/patient etc. and the list goes on.

It seems there is even a situation where one modality(Sai Baba Reiki) was denounced by the Sai Baba people and then re-surfaced under another name(and is very popular)

Absent Healing...
So my feeling is to just remove our ego and get out of the way ... and send healing.

It is my belief that this goes to the higher selfs, who then sort it out for us.

If you feel you have to ask a persons permission, just respect their reply.

Re:Sending Reiki Without Permission - 2008/06/10 04:39 I wonder about this sometimes myself, but I think reiki will go where it needs to go. We of course are only the hollow bones that carry this amazing energy and it is much wiser then us. I feel that reiki will not go where it is not wanted. If you feel like something needs reiki then go ahead. The most important thing to do though is just listen to your spirit guides and intuition. They know best.
