Ethanol-the Processing - 2007/09/30 07:16 I am looking for confirmation of this. I recently read that plants are processed for their ethanol by methods that use fossil fuels. Ultimately that their carbon footprint is as bad as the fuels that they are set to replace.

Can anyone show me otherwise?

Not only that, but a considerable amount of fossil fuel is used to grow the plants (via fertilzer, tractor fuel, etc), and to harvest it, and to transport it to the ethanol plants.

The experts are saying we're taking completely the wrong approach in our attempts to produce ethanol using our current methods.

I wish so badly that I was shocked by that, but oddly I have come to expect that kind of thing today.
