Cruelty against Animals - 2007/10/13 03:51
This is something that has always angered me. It's not fair (nor is it right) to treat someone smaller and weaker than you like dirt.
I've seen lots of strays with broken legs and with sores all over their bodies. It's just too painful to look at and I often find myself close to tears.
There was an article I read in the papers once about an American kid who put a kitten in the oven and laughed when it screamed. He later boasted to his friends about it, saying, "You should have it scream!" And do you know what? All he got was a warning from the court and something else (I can't remember what) and was released.
The kitten survived, but lost one leg and was badly burnt. Some kind family took it in and have been looking after it since then.
When I was a little girl, I used to bring the strays back home and feed them. I got into a lot of trouble for doing it (or you wouldn't believe how much I was yelled at) but I just couldn't leave them.
Even now, the seven cats that I have are mostly strays I took in. Two of them I got from a mother cat that died. She left four kittens behind. I managed to find homes for two of them by going from house-to-house, but the other two weren't so fortunate.
There was another cat who used to come to my house with plastic tied around its neck each time. I've also heard there are some very sick (not to mention, disgusting) people who stomp on kittens to relieve their stress. Their logic is because they are suffering, it's nice to see others suffer, too, and what better way than to harm someone innocent. Hah! Just hah!
I can't take it anymore! It's so terrible. I hope to one day bring justice to all these animals. I don't know whether it's possible, but I want to try.
