We need to stay vigilant - 2008/07/14 08:42There is a movement building based on the death of teen, to make Salvia Divinorum illegal. I don't know if this is a consideration that will include those over 18, but I would hate to see herbs banned because parents, mourning the loss of their offspring, make the rest of us pay the price.

Re:We need to stay vigilant - 2008/07/14 22:09I entirely agree with you. As an herbalist in the UK I am now banned from using Kava Kava due to some very dubious research that came out of Germany. There are groups of people out there who will seize any opportunity to discredit natural and holistic approaches in medicine. Ghislaine Lanctot in her book The Medical Mafia quotes some very interesting statistisics….. 700 000 Americans DIE each year of the secondary effects from the orthodox (modern) medications they have been taking. … A third of all people admitted to hospital are there because of the negative side effects of the orthodox (modern) medications they have been taking. This gives an interesting perspective to the Salvia divinorum case I think. I also can’t help thinking about how many people have overdosed, or been left with serious liver damage from paracetamol over the years. This is a drug that I can buy from my local supermarket, petrol station or newsagents!
