Re:How well-researched are home remedies? - 2008/07/14 21:39 Most home remedies are natural plant based substances, which have been used all over the world from ancient times right through to the present day. This use spanning thousands of years illustrates their efficacy and safety in ways no modern medical trial can emulate. There is a wealth of documentation both ancient and modern to support this. The chronicity testing for modern drugs on the other hand lasts for a matter of months by force feeding lab animals such as rats and is supposed to tell us how years of taking these drugs will affect the human body over time. For me the choice here is simple natural plant based home remedies get my vote every time. But of course I use my common sense and research new remedies before I use them. There is always plenty of choice when it comes to natural remedies. In my experience it is usually the most simple that are the most effective. Using remedies that are indigenous to the area that you live is a good place to start, as there is usually a wealth of empirical knowledge that is easily available. There is an ancient idea that states everything your body needs for it's health and wellbeing can be found in your own back garden. Alanah
