self-sustaining community ideas and connections - 2008/07/24 04:06 I found this site searching for self-sustaining spiritual communities. It is perfect for such a thing because a self-sustaining community has most of the ingredients in your various forums. Solar, bio diesel alternative fuels spirituality, healty eating etc. are all beneficial to self-sustaining community life and good for the ecology and future of the Universe.

May I suggest "self-sustaining community" and also "healthy diet" subjects? Or you decide what subjects but I would like to post and read about these things.
Please view my last post to my blog and see what I wish to submit to your site and tell me if it is appropriate. http://thelaws.blog.com

Re:self-sustaining community ideas and connections - 2008/07/29 22:02 I would like to see a forum on Browns gas – also referred to as HHO or Hydrogen gas and another for self-sustaining communities if that is not a problem of any sort.

There are also other alternative fuels such as propane and compressed natural gas that are more environmentally friendly with no place to post to except to General.

I don’t want to come here as a new member and start trying to change everything. Perhaps I should just post these things to General and leave it at that…

Self-sustaining communities:
United we stand, divided we fall. Humans were meant to interact in groups, yet the trend is toward individuality and separation, “every man for himself”.

Modern ways separate our living space from our shopping places and from our food production areas. This increases transportation costs and our dependence on fossil fuels drastically. We must drive long distances to work and home. Our food travels many miles to the grocery stores and a lot of packaging is used for our food that causes excessive waste processing efforts and expense.

In a self-sustaining community there is less travel to work, less transportation of food, less packaging of food, and these communities have better control of the quality of food they consume because they grow it and harvest it themselves. In general, they live, work, eat, and play together as a group dedicated to the group as a whole. They form businesses together to provide cash income from outside of their communities and everyone does their part in these businesses. It is similar to a large family effort and the economical, environmental, and health benefits can be substantial if properly managed.

We now have Federal, State, County, and City groups, but many cities are far too large to allow effective communication between these groups. If we live in a big city, it is very difficult for individuals to effectively communicate ideas for improvement that will benefit the city and then there is much controversy due to the diversity of morals, customs, habits, etc. Self-sustaining communities tend to group like-minded individuals together and thus there is less controversy and more ability to agree on standards or community rules.

Many people view these smaller communities as “cults” or “communes”, which places a negative thought in the minds of the common society. However, many are no more than groups of people who wish to work together in harmony for a better lifestyle of their choice.

People group together according to their own habits anyway, but generally only when they recreate. Think of how different religions gather together for meetings and recreation in one place, while different cultures gather, etc. Like-minded people like to interact with other like-minded people when given that choice. Large cities do not offer this option very well, while smaller communities do much better in this way. In a self-sustaining community, potential members know in advance of the standards of the community and this groups like-minded people together and discourages others who would be in conflict with the group’s standards.

Organic food production, - this includes the best breeds of animals and the best types of fruits and vegetables, etc. - healthy eating, healthy recreation, environmental respect, and respect and logic in general – that which does the most good for the most people is what interests me and I wish to join with others who agree – with what is best for the majority and the Universe. This site does this on the Internet – I wish to form, or join, or help improve such a group, or groups that physically interact in the real world.

I wish to share information on the development of some things beneficial to the environment – our reality on this Earth – which do not fit well in some of the present subjects. HHO or Browns gas is quickly being proven to be an environmentally safe fuel alternative with several other environmental and health benefits. This is not Bio-diesel, Ethanol, Solar, or Hybrid cars. Perhaps there could be a forum for Browns gas/HHO (hydrogen, and another for Self-sustaining communities, with another for other alternative fuels.

Also I made a mistake and did a double post in this forum - suggestions - can you delete the duplicate for me?
