Wedding traditions and customs are an integral part of every wedding. These wedding customs and practices add a touch of serendipity and pureness to every wedding. Though there are countless wedding customs and traditions there are a few that are more popular. Here are a few of them. The wedding veil is just among the most popular wedding traditions particularly from the side of bride. It is based on the custom of olden days where the bride showing her face to groom before wedding was not considered good. A marriage veil is so used to keep the bride's face covered. The veil is also considered to supply protection to the bride from evil spirits. Another tradition is the use of white color in nearly every aspect of wedding. The dress of bride is supposed to be white. Specifically since Victoria of the UK wore a white dress to her wedding ceremony, it became the accepted norm which stays to date. Similarly, it is assumed that a lady who wears white on her wedding day chooses the right man. Other colors like black, grey etc are not thought to be good for wedding day. Rice has been a key component in marriage rites around the world. An important tradition is to throw rice at the new couple. Rice is the symbol of wealth and fertility. It is believed that if rice is thrown at the new couple, they may prosper in life and will have a great relationship with each other. It is a way to wish a good married life to the newly wed. You would have noticed that in a wedding rite, the bride is generally kept on the left side of the groom. The story behind this is that there was a possibility of potential suitors trying to snatch the bride away. Here the right hand of the groom was supposed to be free in order to dissuade any such attempt. Yet another popular convention in the context of marriage customs and traditions is wedding kiss. The tenet of wedding kiss hasn't stemmed out of any random thought of creativity. In fact this tradition has logic behind it which has a link to the old times of the Roman age. The wedding kiss was apparently the legal approval of the matrimony. To make it completely legal, it was mandatory that the wedding kiss needed to be witnessed by other people as well. The bridal bouquet is another vital custom of wedding ceremony. However, the modern act of a bride carrying a bouquet is more of a style factor, earlier the bouquet was meant to hold herbs that shielded the bride from malicious spirits. It's all thanks to these countless marriage customs and practices that the wedding makes for a pure union of 2 souls.
