We live in a world today that is full of perceptions, deceptions and misconceptions; it is often hard to tell one from the other when learning about new things. Being no stranger to misconceptions, it is very important to understand what hypnosis misconceptions are before you assume what you can accomplish, such as an objective, through hypnosis. If you understand all that it is not, you will learn what hypnosis, or anything, really is. The only way to kow what is hypnosis is, is by finding out all of what hypnosis is not. Many false pretenses have been made through the media about hypnosis, most of these through movies and word of mouth. An important thing to note is that you cannot dominate someone's mind through hypnosis, you cannot control every action of just anyone using hypnosis. Another thing hypnosis is not is the ability to dominate another's will. In a nutshell there is nothing about hypnosis that will lead you to complete domination of the world or human kind, so if this is your intention you should stop here and embark on a new path. The endless amounts of misconception seem to surround hypnosis. Power over one's mind, thoughts, ideas, and actions are usually associated with these misconceptions; this is true in many types of work. There are all kinds of associations and false ideas that are created when society acknowledges that power accompanies any way of life, this include hypnosis. For example money carries the connotation of power, however unless you are knowledgeable about how to be powerful with money you will fail. Any eloquent and masterful hypnotists have become so by first wiping celan from the slate any misconceptions about hypnosis. The most common of these misconceptions about hypnosis are those dealing with the power of it. Although it is true that you can exercise a sort of power over your subjects' mind, it is not true that you will be able to completely control them. The opposite of control is actually happening. Many people are unaware of the fact that hypnosis is, for the most part, just a negotiation with the unconscious mind. Your base of ethics and morals is stored in your unconscious mind, and while a hypnotist can negotiate with parts of the unconcious mind, they will never be able to completely change or control one's ethics/morals. The beliefs you hold, your ideas, and your moral standards that you choose to live by are unbreakable and stored in the unconscious. This is your own ethical code. Among the common myths of hypnosis is the idea that one can completely control another, this is a myth simply because a person, whether in hypnotic trance or not, will only do what they want to do. A good example of this is the common entertainment of stage hypnotists. Stage hypnotists will ask for volunteers from their audience, volunteers know on some level that they will be asked while in a hypnotic state to do things that they may not be aware that they are doing, they may even be embarrassing. Volunteers crave attention from being exhibitionists on some level in their minds. They are consciously ok with the fact that they know they will be controlled by the hypnotist because there is no conflict with their moral code.
