Today, self-actualisation, self-fulfilment and self-empowerment are subjects that people have become both more open to and interested in. Ambitious and successful people have always existed, and excelled. However, in the past, many people have been content to work and play without pushing themselves or their loved ones on to greater things. The never ending quest to fulfill potential was not sought, with the majority accepting the circumstances of birth. For many people their own personal history reflects disappointment and regrets of unachieved goals. Over time cultures and religion have suppressed freedom and personal desire in favour of a more controlling 'do as we say' approach. What's more, ambitious people will only shine if the economic landscape encourages them to. Today, economic factors have played a vital part in people being amenable to changing and re-inventing themselves. 'Jobs for life' have almost completely disappeared. People are aware that they need to keep themselves attractive to employers (or, for the self-employed, customers and clients) throughout their entire working lives. However, achieving self-fulfilment is a personal goal rather than an economical one. For most of us the question of reaching our potential and living a full, exciting and pleasurable life, is one of the most important questions of all. This is no new phenomenon. Across centuries people have looked inwardly at aspects of their life often seeking help or advice to the most difficult of questions (think of Ebenezer Scrooge in Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol). However, until now, the right tools have not been available... Today these tools have been finely honed by many psychologists dedicating, in some cases, decades of work and research to their practical development. One such tool is Archetype Analysis. Archetype Analysis is a powerful and varied tool which can help provide a framework for answering some of life's significant quandaries as well as aiding those curious about intervention and what it can do for them.
