It is not at all shocking that a fellowship church would ask themselves the question of whether or not they should open up an online site for themselves. After all, almost every single organization in the world does it. A lot of churches don't even know where to begin when it comes to having a website. Most do not even know what a website would demand of someone. I am going to try and explain to you some of the thing that you should expect from opening a site online for your congregation, and what you would have to do to make it work to its fullest. Having a website can leave you with so many options, and it definitely opens a whole new world to you- it allows you to reach the WHOLE world- it makes it easy for the whole world to reach you. For a church, having a website can be very beneficial. For example, you can have your weekly updates posted online for all of your congregation members to view. You can place any information you like on there, such as you monthly, weekly, or daily schedules. You can even make big and important announcements to your congregation. Owning a website can also allow you to reach out to the people on a whole new level. Spiritually speaking here; which after all, is really the most important thing. The reason why I say this is because you can post all of your beliefs on there; what your church stands for. It lets you keep in touch with others who might inquire about your beliefs, opening a whole new way reaching out to people. However, just as there happen to be many pros when it comes to owning an online page for your church, there also happen to be a few cons to consider. For one, if you do decided to get an online page, you must make sure that you are constantly updating it because it could cause confusion to your congregation. If your planning to use the website only for current members, then you don't really need to worry about the SEO part of it because you simply have to tell your members what the site address is. However if you would like to reach others in the world, then you must worry about making your site search engine friendly so that you can rank higher in the search engines. If a website isn't "designed" correctly, worst case scenario is that they will just think it's ugly. However, worst case would be making them never want to visit you. Period. So now you know some of the good things, and some of the bad things about owning a website. Websites are for many congregations, but they are not for all. You just kind of have to ask yourself if your fellowship church is ready for a website.
