According to the Mayan prophecy, the world is going to end on 21st december 2012. In the Mayan prophecy it is said that the Great Cycle ends and the world as we know it will stop being. A new age will begin. So what is the Great Cycle? The Great Cycle has a total of 25,625 years. It is then further divided into five cycles. Each of the five cycles consists of 5,125 years.. According to the Mayan Long Count calendar, we are nearing the end of the fifth and final cycle. The Winter Solstice on December 21, 2012 is said to be the last day of this cycle. There is a big debate going on, because a lot of men and women do not understand what is exactly meant by the ending of the cycle and the beginning of a new age. People all over the world wonder whether the prophecy is true or not. So-called Doomsday prophets of course have jumped on the idea and said that the world will indeed end on that date. These Doomsday prophets say that a number of big disasters will take place, which will clean the world, so the new age can begin.
