The morning of Enlightenment

While Egypt was under the control of the Ottoman turks in the 18th century it was an extreemly hazerdous undertaking to visit the Giza plateau. The lawless renegade bandits and Arabs were likely to ro or kill the unsuspecting traveler

It was during the era of George Washington that interest in the Great Pyramid was renewed and new discoveries made. Edward Worthly Montague escorted Mr. Nathaniel Davison while he was on vacation and together they carefully explored the great pyramid

Davison tied a rope around his waste as his fearful aids lowered him into the consuming darkness of the well. The length of the ominous shaft was well over 100 feet, but nothing was to be found except sand debris. and rubbish.

The perplexing question that coused over Davison's mind was how and why would anyone dig a 200 ft shaft into solid granite, only to come to a dead end? To him there seemed no apparent purpose.

Abandoning this quest, Davison set about finding any other secret features within the interior of the Pyramid. This lead him to the discover of what is now know as Davison's Chamber.
