Fun and Entertainment While ministering to the children and teaching them is much more important than having fun, teaching them in a way that allows them to have fun will be a tremendous help in terms of creating an effective ministry. Puppets are great from the perspective of ministry leaders because they are capable of doing a very effective job of educating the kids, but the children are more interested in the entertainment value than the education that they are receiving, sometimes without even being aware. Educational While puppet shows are fun for the kids, what is equally important is that they are an excellent way to present an educational message to the kids in a format that will allow them to learn and grow. Memorable A good puppet presentation will teach a valuable and important lesson to the kids, but they will not just learn it and forget it. Because of the environment and the entertainment, these messages that they are learning are much more capable of sticking with them for the long-term. Involvement It takes many people to pull off a successful puppet ministry. While this can be a deterrent to getting started, it can actually be a blessing in disguise because it allows so many new people to get involved in the ministry and in the lives of the children. Many churches use teenagers to get involved with puppet ministries and this is a great way to get them involved with the younger kids. Puppet ministries in general are helpful for bringing people in the church together and getting everyone working together for the good of the children. Versatile Puppets can be used in so many different ways and so many different places within a children's ministry. This is one of the great things about puppets is that there is basically no limitation to how and when they can be used. Financial Investment is not Necessary Tight budgets are common for most ministries and churches. Fortunately, puppets can be made from just about anything (with a little creativity) and the need for financial investment is minimal. Pretty much everything you need can be made from things that you have lying around. If you want to spend some money for higher quality resources, that is always an option, but it is not necessary to get started. Plenty of Scripts Being able to write your own scripts is not necessary in order to start a puppet ministry, in fact, most use scripts that they have purchased or obtained for free. Scripts can easily be found online, and you can always adjust them to meet your needs if they are not exactly what you are looking for.
