Religion is a very big part of the human civilization. Our differences in faith have given rise to different religious groups which offer their own versions of salvation and which appeal to different kinds of people. These religious groups do not only operate in churches but they have also taken over the radio, television and print media. An example of these religious groups is the Kenneth Copeland Ministry.

To answer the question as to what is Kenneth Copeland Ministry, it is an international Christian ministry whose aim is to spread the words of God in whatever way it can. Be it through television broadcasts, live conferences, magazines and even through the World Wide Web. It offers spiritual counseling for all facets of life such as in finance, health and relationships. It is headed and also founded by Kenneth Copeland and his wife Gloria Copeland.

Before organizing the ministry, Kenneth Copeland was a recording artist who even had a Billboard hit back in 1957. However sometime in 1962, he converted to Christianity and began devoting his life to Christian ministry work. He began working as a pilot and driver for Oral Roberts, a televangelist and a Christian charismatic, eventually studying at the Oral Roberts University in 1967. He also worked with the institution as a member of its board of regents until 2008.

The ministry began its development in the nineteen seventies as highlighted by the onset of its own television program which was entitled Believer's Voice of Victory which began airing in 1979. Newark, Texas is the site of its principal headquarters. Over the years, the ministry began growing and branching out internationally, establishing international offices in Australia, Africa, Canada, United Kingdom and Ukraine. It also remains very active in prison ministry in 23 different countries.

Criticism has plagued the ministry particularly over its teachings and the claims of faith healing by Copeland. Copeland is also being criticized for his acts of asking money in the form of donations with the guarantee that it will return to them a hundred times over in the form of happiness and wealth. It also became the subject of a Senate Inquiry together with other televangelists and religious organizations wherein their financial records were reviewed and their tax-exempt status were subjected to scrutiny. Former business associates have also accused both Kenneth and Gloria Copeland with leaving behind thousands of dollars in indebtedness due to the use of their finances for private interest.

An investigation conducted by an independent news company, has raised serious doubts on the ministry. Copeland was found to have a luxurious house by the lake and several private planes in their own private airport, all paid out from the money collected from people. There were also claims that the planes are being used by the Copeland family for their private travels and vacations.

Despite all the controversy, it continues its mission of spreading the word of God in the bible to all parts of the globe. It seeks to teach people how to live a successful Christian life and how to maximize their spiritual growth. It also aims to provide people with solid Biblical answers for all kind of challenges and problems.

The true believers of the Kenneth Copeland ministry will undoubtedly continue to support it without questioning the motives of its leaders. This can be a true indication of how much faith a person can have on his religion and consequently how one can be vulnerable to others who seek to profit from such faith.
