Yoga is becoming more and more popular across America. People are
finding out the huge number of benefits that yoga provides for the
spirit, body, and mind. Yoga has withstood the test of time for over
5000 years because it works.
When yoga is practiced on a regular basis under the guidance of a
qualified yoga instructor, it will give you tangible results which you
can see within a few short weeks. Some people have claimed that yoga
has stopped or slowed the progress of arthritis, asthma, back pain and
bronchitis, depression, eyestrain, headaches, indigestion and insomnia.
Aside from that, yoga improves circulation throughout the body,
strengthening of the heart, and enhancement of oxygenation in your
body. Medical doctors have used yoga therapy to manage specific
diseases of the nerves, as well as the heart and other muscles.
When used for long periods of time, yoga can really revitalize the body
by improving flexibility which, according to yoga principles, is a more
dependable gauge of your age than the number of birthdays you've had.
You will also notice an improvement in your posture through yoga,
because it helps strengthen the back, neck and shoulder muscles. It
makes you more conscious of your body and the way it's aligned, which
makes you aware of your posture, improving it even more. The effect is
that you'll carry yourself with more confidence and will show a more
attractive disposition.
Yoga improves the shape and tone of your muscles. Many of the poses, or
asanas, make use of your own weight for resistance; others enhance
flexibility in your joints and increase your range of motion. This
results in a well-toned body with increased energy and longer endurance.
Yoga also fights obesity and can help you lose weight. During the
poses, different organs and glands are stimulated which helps regulate
their functions. You'll find your digestion is better, your metabolism
increased and you'll enjoy a natural suppression of your appetite.
Yoga is a very good substitute for an aerobic workout, believe it or
not! When performing yoga, which usually lasts at least an hour, both
your heart rate and breathing will increase. This results in increased
oxygen intake and improved lung capacity.
But all of this really only touches the tip of the iceberg. Most of
what I've listed here is focused on only the physical benefits of
practicing yoga on a regular basis. Yoga's benefits go much, much
further.
Through meditation, yoga brings calmness to your mind and spirit while
improving mental clarity and focus. You'll find yourself able to
concentrate better and sleep better. It's easier to maintain more
pleasant thoughts and keep yourself in a positive mood.
Not only that. Since your self-confidence is increased, you are more
self-aware and you will feel more alive. Yoga has even been credited
with improving sex lives.
This is just an overview of the benefits of yoga. There are a lot more
benefits to performing yoga. Your mind, body, and spirit will be in
harmony through yoga. Yoga means 'union', and this is what makes you
achieve unity in all areas of your life. The only way to discover the
wonders of yoga is to simply try it and see for yourself.
Many of the exercises in my various programs, I've borrowed from Yoga.
I don't use them directly. But I've taken many and changed them to be more effective for the task I want to tackle.
One such program is my Fibromyalgia program. The thousands of people
who have used the program has now taken their life back and has
regained their energy.
