After endless hours in the traffic as I was driving back home from work,I finally arrived home feeling exhausted and intoxicated from the air and the noise pollution. It was the moment that life seemed to be skipping along a little bit too fast. Things seemed to happen in the speed that I was not able to catch up.I decided it was time to recharge. The calling from body, mind and spirit for a vacation was so loud and undeniable.

It has been 6 years since I started practicing yoga. When I have free time, I also give classes. For me,to maximize the benefit of the practice, the ambiance is one of the first element to consider. I believed there must be a perfect place for me to deepen meditation , do yoga, enjoy fresh organic dishes and clean air.

It is amazing how the universe always provides us what we need. One afternoon, during lunch break while I was browsing through Facebook. I came across a photo album of a friend who recently went to Chiangmai for a Yoga retreat holiday. She posted some wonderful pictures of her practicing yoga in a sala on top of the hill with breath-taking view of mountains and organic farm in the background. Seeing The Spa Resort Chiangmai as the location in the album name,I went to their website to check on upcoming events.

Shortly after discovering that what the yoga retreat program consisted of. I will learn yoga philosophy, pranayama, mantra meditation, anatomy and yogic diet while practicing the asana twice a day. The resort has a well-known restaurant for vegetarian meals and raw food. There are these neat facilities 2 swimming pools, the Bamboo Spa, Thai Herbal Steam, Far Sauna. I signed up for the retreat and booked my ticket right on that day.

In less than an hour,I landed in beautiful Chiangmai, leaving Bangkok behind. There was still some time until sunset. I changed into comfortable shoes and started to take a walk to the village near by the resort. There were countless rice paddies in the valley of green mountains. It was abolutely a charming place.

Apart from the retreat, there were other activities that I also enjoyed. For example, chilling out by the swimming pool and ending the day by a thai style massage. The food was fantastic. The two lovely Thai instructors were great, I learned so much from them.

By the end of the 3 night stay, I felt like a new me, the better version of myself. The entire experience is so transforming, both physically, emotionally and spiritually. I hope next time I can spend more time, maybe even take a Training course.
